Welcoming Simplicity

Children are so playful and innocent from the beginning but we make them complicated by teaching them what is right and what is wrong, what is theirs and what is not theirs, what is good and what is bad and so on. As they grow up with us they lose all their finer qualities and learn about money, competition, deception, hatred, jealousy and everything else.
Can we be more intelligent than the little boy who is making a castle in the sands?
Can we love more than the little girl who loves her pets more than anything else?
Can we be happier than children?
Perhaps not.
But let us at least appreciate this simplicity, cheerfulness, playfulness and innocence this New Year.
